Wavefront Mapping

ALLEGRETTO Wave™ Eye-Q is a unique system for mapping your eye with remarkable precision, charting its exact curvature and biomechanics to create a customized, three-dimensional map. This detailed map is studied by our surgeons before you undergo surgery to determine whether you are a good candidate for eye surgery and to help guide the laser reshaping of your cornea. The accuracy of the system allows our surgeons to customize treatment for your cornea and enables them potentially to improve your vision beyond 20/20.

ALLEGRETTO Wave™ Eye-Q also uses the Perfect Pulse Technology, a powerful, high-speed laser that can correct your vision in as little as eight seconds. Perfect Pulse is the newest approach to laser vision correction and is the fastest system available in the United States today.

Because of its remarkable speed and precision, ALLEGRETTO WAVE™ Eye-Q is also one of the safest and most effective optical lasers that exist. An ultra-thin laser pulse sculpts the surface of your eye with extreme accuracy by tracking the fastest movements of your eye (checking 400 times per second) and making adjustments based on those movements. The energy used in the laser is also calibrated to the exact levels needed, passing through three checkpoints before it reaches your eye. The pulse is adjusted along this path to ensure a safe, precise, controlled beam of energy.

Down-Up LASIK™

Dello Russo Laser Vision is proud to have pioneered the Down-Up LASIK™ laser eye surgery system of all-laser LASIK. Surgeon Dr. Joseph Dello Russo developed this system in response to a need for greater safety and stability during the second stage of Custom LASIK laser eye surgery: creating the corneal flap.

Prior to the introduction of the Intralase FS laser, the flap stage of Custom Cornea LASIK surgery had to be performed using a mechanical blade called a microkeratome. While safety and results were often excellent using this device, the advent of the Intralase laser allowed for far greater precision and predictability when creating the corneal flap.

Dr. Joseph Dello Russo further improved upon the all-laser LASIK procedure with the introduction of his down-up technique at his Manhattan and Brooklyn offices. During the Custom Cornea procedure, the laser cuts a circular flap in the outer tissue of the cornea, leaving a small hinge at the top of the eye (rather than on the side, as was done previously). The flap can then be lifted up from the bottom, thus the name: down-up.

The Down-Up LASIK™ method allows the flap to close in a natural position after surgery, where it bonds with the cornea and is kept in place by the blinking action of the eye.Dr. Joseph Dello Russo's method for corneal flap creation is safer and more comfortable than previous methods used and allows for a faster post-operative recovery.

Custom LASIK

The final stage of Custom Cornea laser eye surgery involves the actual reshaping of the inner corneal tissue with the excimer laser. The individualized wavefront map will be programmed into the excimer laser, and the ALLEGRETTO Wave™ Eye-Q system and is then guided through the action of the laser during surgery. This also utilizes advanced flying spot technology, combined with an active tracking system, to follow the minute movements of your eye during surgery.
